Punishment to child murderer demanded

PATACHARKUCHI, Oct 10 � A massive silent procession was taken out at Patacharkuchi recently under the aegis of the Patacharkuchi Anchalik Students� Union in cooperation with a number of local organisations like Raas celebration samiti, Bazaar committee, Development committee, Durga puja samiti, local people and students and staff of Patacharkuchi Sankar Dev Sishu Niketan and other schools demanding proper punishment to the culprit involved in the sensational child murder case on October 2.

It may be mentioned that one Ankita Roy (6), a student of Patacharkuchi Sankardev Sishu Niketan and the only daughter of Sanjay Roy and Thunu Roy of Barnalikuchi Sariha Satra under Patacharkuchi Police Station was brutally killed on the night of October 2 during Durga Puja and the body of the unfortunate child was later found from an abandoned government quarter adjacent to the puja site.

The protestors with placards demanded proper punishment to the culprit. The procession began from the playground of Patacharkuchi Vidyapith and moved around Patacharkuchi market and entered the revenue circle office of Bajali revenue circle where two memorandums, one from the AASU unit of Patacharkuchi and another from the management committee of the school where the ill fated child studied were handed over. The memorandum was received by Prafulla Chandra Barman, Election Officer, Bajali who was in-charge of the Circle Officer, Bajali who assured to take steps for punishing the culprit involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, one person named Utpal Sarma of Sariha Chakla village has been arrested by the police in this connection and police sources informed that the person has confessed his involvement in the murder case during interrogation. The person has already been sent to judicial custody.
