Punishment for tainted ACA officials demanded

GUWAHATI, Jan 22 - A group of former cricketers demanded punishment for the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) officials who are involved in foul play while running the ACA activities.

Addressing the media here today, former cricketers like Prabir Hazarika, Dipak Das, Sazzad Zaheer Hussain, Samarjit Neog among others said, the tainted ACA officials, including president and treasurer should get punishment for their misdeeds. The cricketers also vowed to file more cases against former secretary Bikash Baruah even though he was banned for life by the State cricket body.

The cricketers even demanded a CBI inquiry for finding out the irregularities of ACA fund by the officials. They alleged that around Rs 400 crore was invested for constructing the Barsapara stadium while its preliminary budget was around Rs 100 crore. The former cricketers also questioned about the report, as to how the ACA president Gautom Roy could provide Rs 2.5 crore for running the ACA activities.
