NEW DELHI, Oct 3: Delhi Dynamos FC and FC Pune City played a 1-1 draw to kick-off their Indian Super League campaign at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here today.
Delhi were dominant in the first half. The start of the second half didnt have as many opportunities but the hosts could have sealed the game towards the end.
The visitors started the game with intent and had their chances but no clear-cut ones while Delhi took time to settle, but later made frequent inroads to keep the Pune defenders busy in the first half.
Just as everyone thought that the first half would end goalless, debutant Rana Gharami went on to find the much needed lead in front of their home fans. An outswinging dipper from outside the 35-yard area put Delhi in front.
Marko Stankovic played an out-footed pass from outside the box only to witness it deflect off a Delhi defender and find Jonathan Vila. However, the latters strike saw Delhi custodian Francisco Dorronsoro moving low to his right to make a very good save in the 79th minute.
Despite having chances, Delhi failed to double their lead and finally went on to concede the equaliser late in the 88th minute. Having received a pass from Emiliano Alfaro in the left flank, Diego Carlos fired it low across the keeper with his left foot to seal a point for the visitors. Agencies
