GUWAHATI, Oct 30 - The birth centenary of Pulin Das � one of the most admired sports personalities of the region will be celebrated with a year-long programme.
A celebration committee has been formed with Nayan Prasad as the president, Subodh Malla Barua and Pronoy Bordoloi as vice-presidents, Kalyan Kumar Das as general secretary, Chandan Sarma and Hrishikesh Bijoy Das as joint secretaries and Dilip Pathak as treasurer to make the year-long celebration a success.
The year-long celebration will begin with a memorial meeting on November l at the Jayanta Kumar Barua-Lobbimi Barua Hall in the Asam Sahitya Sabha premises at 3.30 pm where Larsing Ming Sawyan, eminent sports organiser and analyst will deliver the keynote address on the topic �Northeast � A Hub of Sports Talent�.
In February next year, the Asam Sahitya Sabha will bestow the Pulin Das Memorial Sports Literary Award while on July 16, the Assam Sports Journalists� Association will organise the Pulin Das Memorial Lecture. In October next year a sports photography and sports art competition will be held. The closing ceremony will be held on October 31 where a book in memory of Pulin Das will be released, stated a press release.
