ITANAGAR, June 5 - Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has met his Maharashtra counterpart Devendra Fadnavis and demanded a CBI probe into the death of Marnya Doye under mysterious circumstances on April 26 in Raigad, reports PTI.
Pul had called on the Maharashtra CM in Mumbai yesterday and requested him the case be investigated by CBI, to which Fadnavis readily agreed, an official release said here today.
�There is a fear and suspicion of foul play in her death (expressed) by her family and some facts have come to light that suggest Doye may have been a victim of murder,� Pul told Fadnavis.
�At the same time, the incident has created a sense of insecurity among people from Arunachal as well as from other states in the NE. There are also apprehensions about the outcome of the investigations into the case and its neutrality,� Pul stressed.
To address the �feeling of alienation� among the people of Arunachal in particular and the NE in general in Mumbai, the two CMs agreed on several confidence building measures, the release said.
Fadnavis also agreed to a proposal by Pul for setting up a coordination-cum-redressal committee to address the grievances of people from the NE.
The committee would be headed by an officer of NE origin under the Maharashtra Government.
The committee would also work in close coordination with the NE people in Mumbai, the release said.
Correspondent adds: Informing that Raj Bhavan is �seriously� pursuing the matter concerning the Marnya Doye murder case with his counterpart in Maharashtra and the State�s Home department, Arunachal Pradesh Governor JP Rajkhowa has assured the deceased�s family members including her mother who called on him here recently that he will continue efforts to bring it to a logical end.
The Governor also assured to take up and address the security concerns of late Marnya�s elder sister Marina, who is pursuing her sister�s case in Maharashtra with concerned authorities.
