Puja special train announced

GUWAHATI, Sept 24 - To cater to the increasing demands of berths by travelling passengers during the Puja holidays, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has decided to run eight trips of Puja specials from Guwahati to Howrah, and another eight trips from Howrah to Guwahati, to clear the rush during ensuing Puja holidays.

An NF Railway release said that Special train number 02502 would leave Guwahati every Saturday at 2140 hours on October 10, 17, 24 and 31, and on November 7, 14, 21, and 28 to reach the Howrah station every Sunday at 1335 hours.

�During return journey, special train number 02501 will leave the Howrah station every Sunday at 1415 hours on October 11, 18, 25, on November 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 to arrive at the Guwahati railway station every Monday at 0745 hours.

The train will run via Goalpara town, New Coochbehar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda town and Bolpur stations on both ways. AC first class, AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, sleeper class and general second class accommodations are available,� the release said.

Another seven trips of the Puja special train will run between Dibrugarh and Kolkata. The special train number 05942 will leave Dibrugarh every Sunday at 2200 hours on October 11, 18 and 25, and on November 1, 8, 15, and 22 to reach Kolkata at 0615 hours on Tuesday.

�During return journey, seven trips of the special train No.05941 will leave Kolkata every Tuesday at 0740 hour on October 13, 20, 27, and on November 3, 10, 17, and 24 to arrive at Dibrugarh at 1800 hours on Wednesday. The train will run via New Tinsukia, Mariani, Dimapur, Lumding, Hojai, Guwahati, Rangiya, New Coochbehar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Rampurhat, Bolpur, and Barddhaman on both ways. AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier, sleeper class and general second class accommodations are available,� the NFR release added.

The above-mentioned special train is in addition to attachment of additional coaches in many trains and other Puja special trains that are being run between Kamakhya to Anandvihar and back, Kamakhya to Bangalore and back, Kamakhya to Pune and back, Guwahati to Gorakhpur and back, Guwahati to Kochuveli (Trivandrum) and back, Katihar to Ferozpur and back, and New Jalpaiguri to Sealdah/Howrah and back. Booking of tickets has already started, the release said.
