Puja programmes drawn up

GUWAHATI, Oct 6 - The Chandmari Rajahua Puja Samity will celebrate Durga Puja from October 15 to 19, Lakshmi Puja on October 24 and Kali Puja on November 6 at the same venue at Chandmari Colony.

On the occasion competitions on arati and conch shell blowing will be held on Astami and Navami days and the winners will be presented cash awards and certificates. Nagara Naam will also be presented on Dashami day evening, said a press release.

The organisers have urged persons interested in taking part in the competitions to contact them at the Puja venue.

Tokobari Barowari Durga Puja: Meanwhile, the Tokobari Barowari Durga Puja Committee, which will step into the 76th year of puja celebrations, has lined up a host of programmes in the run-up to the Durga Puja, which include art competition and blood donation camp.

Organisers informed that they will erect a 50-foot high pandal and the interior will be decorated with hogla tree leaves collected from the Sunderbans. Award winning sculptor Sanatan Rudra Paul will give shape to the idol of Goddess Durga.
