Puja celebrations end peacefully in Udalguri

UDALGURI, Oct 8 - Along with other parts of the country, the traditional Durga Puja celebrations concluded in Udalguri district in a peaceful manner. Most of the puja committees responded well to the amended instructions, which included keeping the puja premises plastic-free and neat and clean. Unlike other years, bursting of fire crackers during the hours of immersion of idols in the rivers were hardly seen.

In Udalguri town, there were 11 puja pandals. In the neighbourhood villages too, cleanliness was given topmost priority during all the days of puja festivities starting from Maha Sasthi.

On the other hand, the 571st birth anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva was also observed at Udalguri town and in Orang, Mazbat, Khoirabari, Tangla, Harisinga and Rowta areas of Udalguri district with traditional naam prasanga, staging of bhaona and seminars on life and philosophy of the great Vaishnavite icon of Assam.
