Public Relations Day celebrated

GUWAHATI, April 21 - Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Guwahati Chapter celebrated National PR Day today in the city. The theme for this year�s celebration was, �Salutations to Indian Armed Forces�. Members of PRSI Guwahati Chapter, students and academicians in the field of PR attended the function.

PRSI national president Dr Ajit Pathak in his National PR Day message said, �Among the top five largest forces in the world, Indian Army is not only about might but also about bringing pride to the nation. While defending the honour of our country from enemies, our forces have constantly been helping the government in settling internal disturbances and helping civilians within the country during natural disasters. Let the country get united and support the Indian Armed Forces in one voice having zero tolerance for those who are not for the unity and integrity of Mother India.�

PRSI Guwahati Chapter chairperson Madhuchanda Adhikari welcomed the guest speaker for the function Lt Col Suneet Newton, PRO Defence, Guwahati.

Lt Col Newton described acts of valour that make the armed forces so unique. He also shared his experiences as the PRO for Defence Forces for the past three years in the North East and his efforts to assimilate with the culture of the people from the region which have reaped rich dividends for him as well as for the forces.

�People from the North East are simple with a different set of sensitivities. Our job is challenging but the rewards are satisfying,� he said. He also exhorted the youths to seriously consider joining the armed forces as a career option.
