GUWAHATI, Sept 24 - A public petition signed by 500 persons titled �A public petition seeking restoration of the Assamese script in the international standards, for use in computers, by encoding it in ISO : 10646 Standard, where it has been unjustly deleted and distorted� was sent to the Prime Minister through the office of the Deputy Commissioner Kamrup (Metro).
A team of signatories comprising Dr Satyakam Phukan, Pastor Aziz-ul Haque, Anjan Chandra Baruah, Orindom Borgohain and Kishore Deka accompanied by journalist Durlav Gogoi submitted the petition.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Gunajit Kashyap received and acknowledged the receipt of the petition.
