Public meeting on NRC update held at Dhemaji

DHEMAJI, March 27 � A public meeting in connection with updating of NRC in Dhemaji district was held recently at the Dhemaji Public Auditorium.

The meeting was chaired by Ajit Kumar Bordoloi, Deputy Commissioner, Dhemaji and the object of the meeting was explained by Mandira Chayengia, District Information and Public Relations Officer, Dhemaji.

Several top officials including Mainul Islam Mandal, Superintendent of Police, Dhemaji and a number of representatives of different organisations like the Dhemaji District Students� Union, district unit of the Chutia Students� Union, Deori Students� Union, Koch Rajbongshi Students� Union, AJYCP, TMPK, Dhemaji District Journalists� Association, Dhemaji Sahitya Sabha, Dhemaji District Citizens� Union, Dhemaji District Teachers� Association took part in the meeting. A good number of heads of government and non-government educational institutions and other offices along with members of the general public attended the meeting.

Khagen Borgohain, District NRC resource person, explained about updating of the NRC in the meeting. ADC Dharma Kanta Mili, Prasenjit Gogoi, CEO, Dhemaji Jila Parishad, Adil Husain, District Programme Officer, Circle Officers of Jonai and Sissiborgaon also spoke on the subject. The meeting took a decision to distribute NRC forms from tomorrow. In this connection, 49 NRC �Sewa Kendras� (NSK) have been set up in the district. Out of them, 16 have been set up in Sissiborgaon, 13 in Dhemaji, eight in Gogamukh and 12 in Jonai revenue circles.

ADC DK Mili replied to the questions in regard to the updating of the NRC process, posed by the public in the meeting. Dhemaji DC AK Bordoloi appealed to all to cooperate with the district administration to make the programme a grand success.
