The issue of lack of coordination among different agencies, which frequently results in problems like that of stagnant water, poor road conditions and other such issues, were taken up by the participants.

Dwip Baruah, president of Nabin Nagar Welfare Society, said that participants in the meeting laid stress on greater coordination among different agencies for dealing with civic woes.

Baruah and Kiranmoyi Mahanta, who heads the Sri Sri Sankardev Namghar Sewa Samiti, chaired the meeting.

Locals pointed out that some roads dug up for laying pipelines have not been properly refilled and this is causing huge inconveniences to two-wheeler riders. Besides, garbage cleaned from drains is dumped by the civic staff on the sides of the roads, thus causing problem of hygiene.

After the meeting, officials and locals visited some spots in the locality where problems of stagnant water and bad roads exist.

Baruah said that a spot in the junction of Janapath and Shantipath, where the road width is less, was inspected and the civic staff marked a nearby wall which will be demolished to widen the road.
