Public meet against witch hunting held

KOKRAJHAR, Nov 20 � With a view to generating awareness among the people against witch hunting, a public meeting was held on Saturday at the Basic Training Centre auditorium hall here.

The awareness meeting was organised by the Kokrajhar district administration and was chaired by Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner Thaneswar Malakar. He sought whole hearted support and cooperation from all sections of the society to wipe out superstitions.

Bodo Sahitya Sabha president Dr Kameswar Brahma, local MLA Promila Rani Brahma, BTC EM Sobha Ram Basumatary, Kokrajhar SP Sunil Kumar, Kokrajhar ADC PK Bhagawati, EAC N Pathak, representatives from leading students organisations, Rabha Sahitya Sabha, All Bodo Women�s Welfare Federation, principals of different colleges, SDOs of Parbatjhora, Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar, and others attended the meeting.

All the speakers spoke about the negative impacts of superstition in the modern society. In the meeting several resolutions were also adopted against witch hunting, including formation of task force at the subdivision level.
