GUWAHATI, June 3 � The District Control Cell, Kamrup (Metro) organised a public meeting on the occasion of the World No Tobacco Day at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra on May 30. The theme of this year was �Stop Illicit Trade of Tobacco Products.�
The speakers dwelt on various ill effects of tobacco consumption, the need for effectively banning smoking at public places and sale of tobacco products near educational institutions, hospitals, etc., in close coordination with the police, municipalities, Education Department, Food Safety agencies, etc. They also emphasized on conducting special drives at regular interventions.
Students of educational institutions and NGO representatives also took part in the event.
