Public facilitation centre crippled

TINSUKIA, April 12 - The public facilitation centre at the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner�s Office, the e-governance centre for providing various certificates, permissions, etc., to applicants, has been rendered useless for the last three days as the server was down.

Expressing helplessness, the concerned Additional Deputy Commissioner said that he is consulting with the technical persons.

Meanwhile, students who have appeared in HSSLC and HSLC examinations are facing uncertainties for the delay in getting their Permanent Resident Certificates (PRC) required for pursuing higher education in institutes where it is mandatory to submit the PRC. They are even more concerned as the office will be closed for several days during the ensuing Rongali Bihu festival.

NH blocked: Irked over the lackadaisical attitude of the concerned authority towards the public demand for improvement of the Digboi-Pengeree-Bordumsa Road for several years, people under the banners of regional units of Asom Jatiyatabadi Juba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP), All Moran Students� Union (AMSU), Assam Gorkha Students� Union, All Tea Tribe Students� Association, Assam Deori Students� Union, etc., took out a rally to the Digboi Chariali where they blocked the NH 38 for about 3 hours on Tuesday resulting in a severe traffic jam.

Later, Margherita Revenue Circle Officer and Sub Divisional Police Officer rushed to the spot and gave written assurance that these demands would be discussed with them on April 17 at the office of the Margherita Sub Divisional Office (Civil). They also demanded improvement of health, drinking water, power supply of the area.
