Public activist files case with State CID

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 5 Arun Pathak, a public activist and businessman of the city, has filed a case with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), demanding action on those who prepared the BJP Delhi units Vision Document where the people of the North-east were referred to as immigrants and migrants.

The complainant has named Satish Upadhyay, president, BJP, Delhi unit; Prabhat Jha, Pradesh in-charge, BJPs Delhi unit; Dr Kiran Bedi, BJP chief ministerial candidate for the Delhi assembly constituency; Dr Harsh Vardhan, chairman of the Vision Document Committee; and Praveen Shankar Kapoor, media in-charge, BJPs Delhi unit, as the main accused in the complaint.

In his petition, Pathak reasoned that the offensive contents of the BJPs Delhi Assembly poll manifesto led to widespread protests and even created law-and-order situations in Assam.

The accused persons by putting the offensive contents in the Vision Document have intentionally promoted and attempted to foment racial disharmony and ill-will between the people living in the North-east and those living in other parts of the country, Pathak said in his petition.

The case has been filed under sections 153-A/505 (2)/34 of IPC.

Meanwhile, many organizations including the North East Welfare Organisation have condemned the BJPs action.
