PSO of infected EC official tests positive

JORHAT, March 12: The PSO who was deputed to the General Observer for Jorhat and Teok Assembly constituencies, Manjit Singh Brar, tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

Brar, an IAS officer of Punjab cadre, who arrived here on Monday evening tested positive on Tuesday after test for COVID-19 was done on him following flu-like symptoms.

Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Roshni A Korati said that the PSO, Pranjal Borpatragohain, a constable of 1st APBn currently on deputation with the Jorhat district police, was entrusted as the PSO to Brar.

Korati said that Pranjal, who was kept under quarantine after Brar tested positive, was shifted to JMCH today following coming out of the positive report of an RTPCR test done on him.

The Deputy Commissioner stated that Brar, who was staying in isolation in a friend’s residence here, was shifted to the quarantine centre at IAF Hospital at Rowriah here.

Meanwhile, Korati informed that PA Siddiqui, an IAS officer of West Bengal cadre, who had replaced Brar will be again be replaced by Madhumita Sinha Roy, another IAS officer of West Bengal cadre as General Observer following exemption request for Siddiqui by West Bengal Government.

Likewise, the General Observer deputed for the Dergaon seat Atul Anand, an IAS Officer of Tamil Nadu, too will be replaced by L Viya, an IAS officer of Nagaland for the same reason, the Deputy Commissioner said.
