Provincialisation of schools to be completed within 2013: Himanta

GUWAHATI, July 30 � State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced that the government would complete all works related to provincialisation of schools within 2013. The posts of 11,226 teachers and staff working at the secondary level venture educational institutions have been provincialized by the State government.

During an appointment letters distribution programmes for provincialized teachers of Kamrup and Kamrup Metro, Sarma also said that 3,000 fresh appointments of TET and B.Ed qualified teachers would be made in September this year and the provisional list for eight districts would be uploaded on the State government website within August 2.

Today, 265 teachers and staff of 24 high schools and Kamrup Metro, 870 employees of 76 high schools of Kamrup got their appointment letters. Two higher secondary schools and two junior colleges of the district were also provincialized. Rest of the teachers and staff, whose posts have been regularised during the first phase would get their appointment letters within August 15, said the Education Minister.

Giving the break-up of secondary level provincialized institutions, he said that 945 high schools with two classes (IX and X) with 9,377 employees, 88 high schools with five classes (VI to X) with 1,269 employees, 47 higher secondary schools with 405 employees and 12 junior colleges with 173 employees have been provicialised.

Sarma also admitted that many educational institutions and employees adopted unfair means to include their names in the list and also paid money to the corrupt officials and Education Department employees at different level, which eventually, had no impact on the entire process.
