On a day when unconfirmed reports of All India Mahila Congress chief and former Silchar MP Sushmita Dev's tendering resignation from the party over her displeasure on the allocation of tickets for the ensuing Assembly elections were doing rounds in the media, supporters of the politician and cadres of the Silchar District Congress committee were seen burning posters of AICC General Secretary and party's in-charge for Assam Bhanwar Jitendra Singh and shouting slogans against APCC president Ripun Bora outside the Congress office here.

Pradip Kumar Dey, President of Silchar District Congress committee made it clear that the Congress leadership has ignored the issues and aspirations of the people here while allocating the poll tickets which has triggered annoyance among the Congress workers.

"We are hurt at the top down decison on the allocation of poll tickets. If the decision on allocation of tickets is not revoked the party workers shall also go ahead to quit the party," Dey told reporters.
