SHILLONG, Dec 9 - The police on Friday arrested 29 members of an anti-influx group for violating section 144 of CrPC and staging a dharna outside Chief Minister Mukul Sangma�s residence here.

The agitators were demanding strong anti-influx laws and implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the State, police said.

The protest by members of Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) started within an hour of the CM leaving his Polo Hills residence to attend the winter session of the Assembly. They were booked under various sections of Meghalaya Police Act, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Davis Marak said. � PTI
