By Correspondent

HAFLONG, Dec 24 - Several organisations in Dima Hasao district staged protest here on Sunday against the reported inclusion of the hills district in the NSCN (I-M)'s Nagalim demand and proposed establishment of a satellite council.

Members of organisations like the Jadikhe Naisho Hosom, the Dimasa Mothers' Association, the Dimasa Women Society, the All Dimasa Students' Union, the Dimasa Students' Union, the Dimasa Youth Association and many others gathered at the Veer Sambudhan statue site, holding the national flag and staged their demonstration.

The demonstrators said the people of Dima Hasao is not against the concept of Nagalim, but the demand for inclusion of the hills district into Nagalim and the establishment of a satellite council would not be tolerated at any cost.

The protesters made it clear that the people of Dima Hasao never went against India and so, it is the responsibility of the Central government to protect the interest of the people of the district. If the Centre fails to fulfil its responsibility, the people of the district would be compelled to fight back.

Talking to reporters, Kailen Daolagupu, president, Jadikhe Naisho Hosom; Rohit Bathari, Dimasa Youth Association and Agnes Gorlosa, Dimasa Mothers' Association, warned that if New Delhi fails to keep the interest of the people of this hills district in mind, they would be forced to launch various agitation programmes, including boycott of the upcoming Republic Day in the district.
