HAFLONG, Sept 20 - Demanding exemplary punishment to the miscreants, hundreds of people at Umrangso in Dima Hasao district took out a protest rally on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned here that one Rajib Das (25), a resident of Umrangso, was found in a seriously injured condition on Tuesday. He was believed to be kidnapped by miscreants.
A memorandum was submitted by the protesters to the Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner through the officer-in-charge of the Umrangso police station on Wednesday.
The memorandum stated that Das was most probably kidnapped by miscreants and tortured mercilessly. He has been admitted in Dispur Polyclinic, Guwahati. The people of Umrangso demanded justice for Das and exemplary punishment to the culprits.
