Protest meet against terror

By Correspondent

NAGAON, Dec 2 - A number of organisations like the ISIS, Boko Haram and others have created terror in different parts of the globe in the name of Islam. But Islam is not for terrorism, against not only the killing of any person, but any living being without any cause. Islam stands for peace and it is condemnable if anybody created terror and that too in the name of Islam.

These views were expressed by different speakers in a meeting held at Swahid Bhawan here on November 25.

At the very outset, SU Ahmed, secretary of the leading social organisation, GVP, explained the significance of the programme. Well-known actor Jnanda Bora, social worker and secretary of Gramya Puthibharal Santha Balladev Sharma, retired vice-principal of Dhing College Abdul Salam, Dr Safiqul Islam addressed the gathering. All the speakers criticised the terrorist outfits that created terror in the name of Islam. They called upon the youth to keep a distance from such organisations.

Referring mainly to Assam, speakers voiced that Assam is the land of Sankar-Azan and therefore there is no hatred among the people living here.

After the meeting, a procession was taken out through the main thoroughfares of the town with banners and placards against terrorism.
