By A Correspondent

NAGAON, Oct 18 - Opposing setting up of illegal outlets of beef at Dhaccapatty area here, around a 100 socially conscious people from the Muslim community staged a strong protest against these shops under Nagaon Police Station today.

The protesters claimed that around seven such illegal beef selling outlets allegedly led to health hazards among scores of people in the area and demanded closing down all those outlets as soon as possible.

During the protest, the agitators alleged that all these beef selling outlets flouted the basic instructions as well as government guidelines and due to biological waste and other accumulated raw garbage from these beef outlets, many people of the locality have suffered from various unknown diseases for which the people of the area were compelled to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few months ago and seek his personal intervention.

Eventually in response to their appeal, Modi instructed the district administration to shut down or to shift all these illegal beef selling outlets from the area.

However, due to unknown reasons, the district administration delayed action against these outlets, following which the adversely affected people of the locality approached the court and on June 11 last the district administration on direction of the court shut down all these outlets.

Surprisingly, flouting the court order, the beef sellers started their business from Sunday, following which a section of socially conscious citizens staged a protest against the outlets today, sources informed.
