DIBRUGARH, Feb 17 - In the wake of nationwide protest over the police crackdown on students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) over charges of alleged sedition, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) of Dibrugarh University here also staged peaceful demonstrations at the entrance of the varsity to show solidarity with the student community as also to protest the interference of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in educational institutions.
The NSUI members here said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) under the patronage of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government was trying to impose and forcibly inject their ideologies and policies in educational institutions. �The police crackdown on students in Jawaharlal Nehru University is the latest example of interference and high-handedness of the Central government. The Central government wants to dictate students� thinking, curb views, students� voice and their free speech. This is not acceptable to us,� said Hemango Sensowa, president of the DU unit of NSUI.
It may be mentioned here that protests against the Centre on various issues relating to students� affairs in various institutions of the nation have been gaining ground.
