Protest against new CEM of NCHAC

By Correspondent

HAFLONG, June 3 - Protesting against the selection of Prakanta Warisa as the new CEM of proposed BJP rule in NCHAC, several organisations of Hamri, Diyungbra and Gunjung constituencies of Dima Hasao like Hamri Youth Association, Diyungbra Naisho Society and Gunjung Village Committee submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, through the Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao on Wednesday.

The memorandum signed by Abhijit Haflongbar, Amrojit Hojai and Promesh Naiding, presidents of all the three organisations maintained that the people of Dima Hasao district have no faith on Prakanta Warisa due to his corrupt practices during his long tenure as EM, NCHAC. Protest rallies taken out against him in the past as he was not able to provide the villagers with their basic needs, proved beyond doubt that the people have no more faith in him.

Prakanta Warisa was a threat to the unity and integrity of the tribal people of the district as he had used the divide and rule policy, the memorandum said while adding that a person with such a character was not fit to take the most honourable and responsible chair of the NCHAC.

Another fact about him is that he was an opportunist, and that his position was never achieved through hard work and honesty, the memorandum added. He was the founding member of the ASDC but he was the first one who deserted the party for his own selfish gains, and joined the Congress (I), which he left when things started to go wrong for him. Now he was again riding on the high wave brought about by the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it said. This clearly shows that he has no ideology and posed a danger to the very party he belonged to. Such a person should not be given the post of CEM.

They requested the Chief Minister, through the memorandum, to ensure that only an honest and competent person was selected for the post of the Chief Executive Member of NCHAC.
