Protest against Nadda�s statement on CAA

JORHAT, Oct 21 - AASU members here on Wednesday burnt the effigy of BJP national president JP Nadda in front of the Jorhat Deputy Commissioner�s office complex to protest against the Central Government�s reported move to implement Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

The activists, led by Jorhat district unit AASU Assistant general secretary Bijoy Shankar Bordoloi, were protesting against a statement made by Nadda in a poll meeting in Siliguri, West Bengal recently where he (Nadda) disclosed that the Centre was preparing the rules for implementing CAA soon.

The protesters, holding placards and banners, lambasted the BJP-led Government at the Centre and the party for going ahead to implement the citizenship amendment law, which was challenged by a number of groups and organisations in the Supreme Court with the apex court yet to give its verdict on the issue.

The protesters demanded the Government to take steps to send back illegal foreign migrants from Assam.
