By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 24 - Members of the Sadou Asom Silpi Suraksha Mancha today took part in a protest march against the mob attack on artistes during the Itanagar International Film Festival, which was attended by members of the film fraternity from across the country.

The protest march was taken out from the Commerce College point here around 11.30 am.

While the site of the film festival was completely damaged, a number of artistes were holed up inside the hotel rooms for several hours. Instruments including acoustics belonging to many artiste groups were also damaged by the irate mob.

Those taking part in the rally included singer Barnali Kalita, composer Ajoy Phukan and actress Deeplina Deka, who demanded action against the culprits and sought compensation for the damage.

The protest rally also effected unusual vehicular traffic congestion in and around Chandmari. At many points, traffic had to be regulated by pressing in additional manpower.
