Protem Speaker, 4 more MCLAs take oath in BTC

KOKRAJHAR, Dec 19 - Katiram Boro, the UPPL MCLA from Baganpara seat and other four more MCLAs on Friday took oath as the protem Speaker and executive members of the 4th Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) respectively.

The new executive members, who took oath, include Ukil Mushahary, Ranjit Basumatary, Ranendra Narzary of UPPL and Anup Kumar Dey of BJP. With this, so far a total of nine members, including CEM and Dy CEM have taken oath in the Promod Boro-led coalition BTC government.

They were administered the oath of office and secrecy by Rajesh Prasad, Commissioner, Lower Assam Division in the presence of BTC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Pramod Boro, Deputy CEM Gabinda Chandra Basumatary, MP Naba Kumar Sarania, MLA of Dhekiajuli constituency Ashok Singhal, BTC principal secretary Shiddharth Singh and a host of other dignitaries in a function held in the auditorium of Assembly building at Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar.

Addressing the swearing-in ceremony, CEM Pramod Boro said, �The council was formed with the sacrifice and struggle of the people. So we should work hard for the welfare of almost 35 lakh people living in this region by following the advice of UPPL founder president UG Brahma, that is, training, planning and executing.�
