Protected areas declared

GUWAHATI, Feb 22 � The district administration has declared certain areas in the capital city as �protected area� with effect from February 26 with a view to regulate entry of unauthorised persons into the area.

The places that come within the �protected area� are - East: southern side of the GS Road starting from Ganeshguri Flyover up to Super Market Police point; West: from Last Gate along the RP Road up to the entry point of ALA; South: 60� ft road starting from Super Market Police Point to Last Gate; North: From Ganesh Mandir up to Ganeshguri Chariali.

As per an order of the District Magistrate, Kamrup (M), Ashutosh Agnihotri, any person violating this order is liable to be punished.

No person or group of persons, except the bonafide residents and public servants of Assam Secretariat and other offices attached there, with or without arms, ammunition, explosive substances shall enter or loiter around the scheduled area without prior permission from the District Magistrate, Kamrup (M), or any officer duly authorized by him on his behalf or the Senior Superintendent of Police, City, Guwahati or the Secretary, Assam Legislative Assembly or an officer duly authorised by him.
