Proposals for financial aid approved in Dibrugarh dist

DIBRUGARH, July 20 - The District Disaster Management Authority here approved several proposals today to facilitate financial assistance for restoration of flood-affected government establishments, PWD roads, embankments, houses and animals etc.

In the meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, who presided over the meeting, first approved the 16 proposals placed under SDRF scheme by the Water Resources Department pertaining to strengthening of embankments, checking artificial flood and erosion in various areas of the district including Rohmoria, Bindakota, Mulukgaon and the town here.

Similarly, DC also approved the proposal placed by Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department for compensation to villagers who lost animals in the recent flood in Rongmala, Raidang and Gereki areas under Chabua revenue circle.

In the meeting, some 83 PWD roads, 35 roads within Municipality, 65 roads under Zila Parishad, 22 schools and 120 Anganwadi centres also received approval for restoration. Compensation for some 104 farmers, who were engaged in pisciculture but lost all of them in the flood, was also approved in the meeting.

The district disaster management authority also approved ex-gratia payment to the next of kin of some seven persons who died in the recent flood in the district.

DC also asked the Agriculture department to immediately assess the affected crop area and accordingly submit the names of the affected farmers.
