GUWAHATI, June 2 - Properties worth about Rs 50,000 were damaged in a fire that broke out at the boys� hostel of Assam Industrial Institute located in Bamunimaidam here.
According to a statement issued by the Department of Fire and Emergency Service, the fire broke out in the second floor of the building due to leakage of an LPG cylinder.
In another incident, a higher official of the Handloom and Textile department today stated that properties worth Rs 15 lakh were damaged, along with numbers of important official documents, in a fire that broke out last evening on its office premises located at Ambari area.
