Project Sunrise launched in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Feb 25 - Mizoram Health Minister Lal Thanzara yesterday launched Project Sunrise � a project of Family Health International concerning HIV and drug abuse, to be carried out in the State for five years.

The Project has already been launched at the national level by Union Health Minister in Imphal on February 6 last. Speaking on the occasion, the Health Minister expressed happiness over the launching of Project Sunrise in Mizoram. Highlighting the various initiatives taken in Mizoram to fight HIV, he said that the initiative concerning HIV patients had begun way back in 1999 through MSACS and now covers every district.

Dr Lalmalsawmi Sailo, Project Director, MSACS, briefed the gathering on Project Sunrise. She said that the Project is being operated in eight NE States by Family Health International (FHI 360) in collaboration with National AIDS Control Organisation and AIDS Control Society in each State.
