GUWAHATI, Oct 18 - In a bid to provide employment and financial self-reliance to the educated unemployed youth from weak financial background, a session on �Swabalamban� � a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project of the Oil India Limited (OIL), was initiated today in Guwahati.
Under the project, free training and placement would be provided to 50 unemployed educated youths for the course BPO/call centre training. Students with minimum HSLC qualification are to be selected primarily from Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar and Jorhat districts, constituting the main operational areas of OIL in Assam.
Guwahati-based Gyanjyoti Foundation is one of the implementing agencies of the project. Today, 25 students from the specified backgrounds and qualifications were interviewed by experts at the campus of the Asian Institute of Management and Technology (AIMT), RG Baruah Road, Guwahati, a professional educational institution under the Gyanjyoti Foundation.
The outcome of the programme would be measured in terms of placement of the trained candidates and their sustainability in their jobs, which would in turn bring out the socio-economic development scenario of the society at large.
The event was initiated with an introductory note by Bijay Kr Nayak, Vice Principal, Gyanjyoti Foundation, followed by extensive details about the CSR initiative of OIL for the course and an induction of the students towards the subject of BPO/call centre training by Dipankar Baruah, an expert trainer in the field of BPO.
�Interviews would be conducted in Upper Assam, specifically in the districts of Tinsukia and Dibrugarh,� a statement said.
