Prohibitory orders clamped in Tinsukia, Udalguri, Kokrajhar dists

DOOMDOOMA, March 21 - In a bid to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus , Tinsukia district administration has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting assembly of five or more persons in public and private places, holding meetings, rallies, fairs and taking out processions throughout the district and the closure of temporary fast food stalls, meat and fish stalls situated on the roadside with immediate effect. The order also prohibited the spread of rumours on COVID-19 in the district through social media or by any other means without proper verification.

Moreover, the district administration has appealed to all the citizens above 65 years of age and children below 10 years to stay at home and not to venture out. Niluram Sharma, Assistant Commissioner cum DIPR i/c , Tinsukia district through a press release has urged the all residents of the district to support the �Janata Curfew� on Sunday announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, Tinsukia district administration has deployed medical teams at various places of the district. Accordingly, medical teams have been deployed at New Tinsukia Railway Jn, ASTC Bus stands at Tinsukia, Doomdooma, Margherita and Chapakhowa (Sadiya) under the supervision of an executive magistrate each.

Meanwhile, our correspondent from Udalguri adds: In view of declaration of COVID-19 as a global pandemic by the WHO, Prakash Ranjan Gharphaliya, District Magistrate of Udalguri district clamped Section 144 CrPC in Udalguri district with immediate effect for the safety and security of public life.

The order prohibited shut down of weekly markets, assembly of more than five persons, dharna, rallies, political events, shopping malls, theatre halls, salon, bars etc., till until further order.

Our correspondent from Kokrajhar adds: As per direction given by the government, Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar Partha P Majumdar today promulgated an order for closure of all coaching centres, tuition centres, all public halls, banquet halls, marriage halls, operation of all bi-weekly, weekly, fortnight markets/haats, cattle markets, all shopping malls as a precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19 in the Kokrajhar district.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar in an order issued today has also imposed restrictions on posting /circulating unverified and unauthorized information through various social media like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Instagram etc.
