Prohibitory order on car parking

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 2 The Kamrup Metro district administration has prohibited parking of vehicles on the stretch from Kamarpatty point to Sikh Temple at Fancybazar and has also declared the area as 'No Parking Zone' between 6 am and 10 pm every day.

In an order, Kamrup Metro District Magistrate Dr M Angamuthu said that parking of vehicles on both sides of the road from Kamarpatty point near Khubchand to Sikh Temple at Fancybazar has created heavy traffic jam causing obstructions to the general public as well as to the pedestrians.

Taking advantage of heavy rush of vehicles some unspecified persons or groups of person may attempt to create an uncalled for situation causing serious breach of peace and public tranquility and harmony as well as causing disturbance to normal public life and general administration.

There are instances of bomb blast at Panbazar near the Church, Kacharighat and at Ganeshguri where unknown extremists had planted bomb in vehicles taking advantage of vehicles unsystematically/haphazardly parked on the roadsides in which many innocent people sustained injuries and few succumbed to their injuries, the order said.

It added that the Old Jail campus has been developed as a parking place wherein vehicles can be parked so as to avoid inconvenience to the public.

The order stated that under Section 144 CrPC parking of any type of vehicles on both sides of the road starting from Kamarpatty point near Khubchand to Sikh Temple at Fancybazar has been prohibited and also declared the said area as No Parking Zone with immediate effect and until further order from 6 am to 10 pm every day.

The latest order comes a week after the district administration had issued another directive prohibiting parking of vehicles at Fancybazar on the stretch between Sikh Temple point and the Old Central Jail premises.
