Prohibitory order in Golaghat dist

JORHAT, Sept 10 - Apprehending breach of peace and tranquility and danger to human life and property, the Additional District Magistrate of Golaghat district has imposed Section 144 CrPC in the entire district.

An order issued today by the ADM stated that assembly of five or more persons with the common objective of picketing or taking out procession, holding meetings at public places and within 100 metres of NRL, ONGC, etc; training in public places by way of drills, training with lathis, weapons; carrying or possession of explosives or any lethal weapons, including lathis, stones, bows and arrows; holding meetings/rallies, processions or shouting slogans in public places have been prohibited.

The order further said that publishing and display of objectionable posters, placards, effigies, etc., in public places; pasting posters and writing on Government or private buildings, bursting of crackers; collection of subscription, donation, etc., by any person, group of persons, organisations without due authority too have been prohibited.

Riding without helmet on two-wheelers and pillion-riding, except for old persons and children; use of tinted glass in vehicles, sale of rotten fish, meat, fruits, vegetables, open sale of sweets/ice cream in daily/weekly markets in damp, unhygienic condition; using LPG as fuel in vehicles; sale and use of polythene bags, including ghutkha, tiranga, etc., sale and purchase of lalee gur; all kinds of lottery too have been prohibited, the order stated.

The order mentioned that the prohibition will not be applicable to Army, CRPF personnel in uniform, police on duty, in weekly markets, bus stands, cinema halls, educational institutes, etc.

The order will come into immediate effect and will remain in force until further order, the ADM mentioned.
