Prohibitory order clamped along India-Bangladesh border in Cachar district

SILCHAR, Oct 15 - Section 144 of CrPC has been clamped along the India-Bangladesh border in Cachar district with immediate effect.

In an order issued to this effect here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli promulgated night curfew under Section 144 of CrPC along the Bangladesh border in Cachar district.

Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited in between sunset to sunrise within one kilometre radius of the border from October 5. No person shall move on the Surma river and on its high bank within the limit of the territory in actual control of India in Cachar between the hours of sunset to sunrise.

In view of the movement of extremist elements out there to create law and order problem in the district and also the unauthorised movement of commodities and cattle from the district through the areas surrounding the district borders, the order has been promulgated.

It was stated in the order that no person will be allowed to ply boat in the Surma for fishing purpose and the permission for fishing has to be obtained from the Circle Officer, Katigorah.

The order comes into force for a two-month period from the date of issue, stated an official press release issued here today.
