Prohibition on illegal cutting of hill soil

GUWAHATI, June 15 - The Additional District Magistrate of Kamrup under Section 144 CrPC has prohibited illegal cutting, illegal procurement and illegal transportation of hill (red) soil from the hills of Kamrup district with immediate effect and until further orders, an official press release stated. This restrictive order has been issued keeping in mind the imminent danger of erosion, landslide, blockage of drains and extensive danger to life and property of people residing in the adjoining areas as well as irreparable damage to the environment and loss of Government revenue.

Under Section 144 CrPC, pillion riding on two wheelers has also been prohibited in the entire district with immediate effect. However, some exceptions have been made for ailing persons travelling to and from any hospital, police personnel and armed forces in uniform and old persons above 65 years and children bellow 12 years.

By another order, the Additional District Magistrate of Kamrup under Section 144 CrPC has prohibited the assembly of five or more persons at any public place with the intention to carry processions and shouting slogans which may incite public in any place, highways, roads and shouting slogans inciting communal violence at any place in the entire district. The order also prohibited carrying of arms, ammunition, explosives and weapons of any nature in any public place including processions, rally, meeting etc., and in any vehicles including two or three wheelers. The Additional District Magistrate has further prohibited gambling in any public place and the use of loud speakers throughout the district with immediate effect.

The Kamrup district administration has also prohibited plying of dumpers, trucks from 6 pm to 6 am in the route from Rani Chowk through Rani, Bahupara, Rajapanichanda, Andherijuli, Sachalpara and the route from Bongara through Rani Khenalibari and Rajapara. Both the routes are under Palashbari Revenue Circle of Kamrup District.

By yet another order, the additional District Magistrate of Kamrup under Section 144 CrPC has prohibited entry of any unauthorised persons within the radius of 100 metres of any vital installation of OIL, ASEB, BSNL, LPG bottling plants throughout the district.
