Programme on critical care today

GUWAHATI, April 26 - Hayat Hospital in association with Hayat Foundation is organising for the very first time an all-India workshop cum CME on critical care here tomorrow.

In the CME to be organised tomorrow at Vivanta by Taj here, renowned international speaker and senior critical care specialist of Medanta Medicity, Gurgaon, Dr Prashanta Kumar and Dr Rajat Gupta, Head of Department of Critical Care Medicine, Action Medical Institute of Delhi, will take part as distinguished speakers.

Addressing a press conference at Hayat Hospital today, Dr Bishnu Kr Deka, head of the hospital�s cardiac surgery department, revealed the details and mentioned that the programme will create a new era in the field of critical care in Assam and North East.

Along with the two internationally acclaimed doctors in the workshop, several renowned doctors from North East will also be present to share their knowledge, information and experience regarding critical diseases and provide information regarding the emerging technologies.

Critical care specialist of Hayat Hospital, Dr Babu Pathak mentioned that there is a rapid growth in the number of seriously injured patients due to the increased number of road accidents and criminal activities. There is also an increase in the number of patients who reach a critical stage due to delay in the diagnosis of disease. However, there are only a very limited number of trained critical care specialists available. In this context, there is a huge relevance to such a workshop cum CME.

Parag Jyoti Dutta, general manager of Hayat Hospital, said in the two sessions to be held tomorrow, Dr Prashanta Kumar will speak on 10 most important subjects of ICU treatment, along with advanced life support mechanism, and will also share his experience on the subject of arterial blood gas.

On the other hand, Dr Rajat Gupta will speak on the easy methods for the treatment and recovery of ICU patients. He will also speak and share his experiences regarding arterial blood gas and mechanical ventilation.

Secretary and Commissioner of the State Health and Family Welfare Department Anurag Goel will be the chief guest.
