GUWAHATI, Oct 16 - Concept Educations, in association with UTSAH, a child rights group, today launched the Child Protection & Education Programme under which children dwelling in the slums will be provided free basic education.
Ashutosh Agnihotri, Commissioner & Secretary, Transport Department, and MD, Smart City Project, Government of Assam, was the chief guest at the programme.
Child Protection & Education Programme is an informal study centre where children like school dropouts, child labourers and those who have been through substance abuse will be provided basic education. Classes will be held five days a week for two hours daily and basic subjects like English, Mathematics, Assamese, Science, Poetry, etc., will be taught. Two teachers have been specially appointed for the centre. Apart from the regular classes, the centre also has a lot of extra-curricular activities planned for these children.
Briefing about the initiative, Gautam Saha, director, Concept Educations, said that the initiative was part of its similar endeavours and having UTSAH as a partner gave it more credibility, �as they have been dealing with these children for a considerable period of time due to which we believe this programme will be helpful in changing the lives of these children.�
Talking about UTSAH�s association in the programme, Miguel Das Queah, founder chairperson, UTSAH, said that the collaborative endeavour with Concept Educations would ensure quality education to the marginalised slum area children.
