Prog on indigenous people

GUWAHATI, Aug 4 - The Indigenous Forum, Assam (IFA) will hold a daylong function at the Machkhowa Pragjyoti ITA Centre for Performing Arts here from 8 am of August 9, on the prospects and challenges to the rights of the indigenous people of Assam and North East India. The North East Indigenous People�s Forum (NEIPF) and the World Barua Organization (WBO) are co-organisers of the event.

Neingulo Krome will be the chief guest at the function, while Dr Nongthhombam Jiten of the Centre for Myanmar Studies, Manipur University and Prof Upen Rabha Hakasam of Gauhati University will be the guests of honour, said ULFA leader Golap Barua, alias Anup Chetia, who is also the chief convenor of the IFA, in a statement here today.
