GUWAHATI, Sept 24 - A cultural programme was organised by the Pragjyotikalaya and the Sudhakantha Bhupen Hazarika Homonnoi Samaj at Rabindra Bhawan here on Friday evening to celebrate the evergreen songs sung by the late music maestro, Dr Bhupen Hazarika.

The popular songs like Axom dekhor bagicha, Manuhe manuhor baabe, Bistirno Parore, etc, were presented before an enthusiastic audience.

The event was inaugurated by Deba Prasad Misra, Director, Cultural Affairs, Assam. The cultural programme titled �Amar Praanor Bhupen Hazarika� was conceptualised and directed by Rosananda Gogoi.

�We have attempted to showcase Bhupenda�s evergreen songs in a new light by presenting them in numerous languages,� said Sandeep Chamaria, general secretary, Sudhakantha Bhupen Hazarika Homonnoi Samaj.

�This is a small step to create a platform to encourage children to pursue their interest in the rich cultural legacy left behind by Bhupen Hazarika,� he added.
