Prof Jagdish Mukhi sworn in as Mizoram Governor

AIZAWL, March 9 - Prof Jagdish Mukhi has been sworn in as the 19th Governor of Mizoram, in addition to his current posting as the Governor of Assam.

The President of India on Friday asked Mukhi to take additional charge as the Mizoram Governor after the resignation of Kummanam Rajashekharan.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan here. It was attended by Chief Minister Zoramthanga, Assembly Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo, Cabinet ministers, ministers of state, MLAs and other dignitaries.

The oath of office to the Governor was administered by Gauhati High Court judge Justice Nelson Sailo. The swearing-in ceremony proceedings were executed by Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo. After the ceremonial function, the new Governor interacted with media persons, accompanied by the Chief Minister. Prof Mukhi is set to address the Budget Session of the newly-formed Mizoram Legislative Assembly on March 12.
