Prof Dilip Barua lecture organised

GUWAHATI, April 27 - To mark the first death anniversary of noted economist Prof Dilip Kumar Barua, a memorial lecture was organised by the North East Debaters Association at the Sudmersen Hall of Cotton University today.

The memorial lecture was on the topic �Debate, Democracy and Development� and it was delivered by noted educationist Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury. Dr Choudhury in his speech emphasised creating a strong debating culture which is based on logic rather than quarrel. He also relived his moments spent with Dilip Kumar Barua.

The memorial lecture which saw the presence of a great number of guests including the family of late Prof Dilip Kumar Barua, was inaugurated by Dr Bhabesh Chandra Goswami, VC of Cotton University.

President of the North East Debaters Association Dipak Sarma said the organisation would try to hold the memorial lecture every year. Students and teachers from different schools and colleges also attended the programme.
