Prof BM Das Memorial Lecture delivered

GUWAHATI, Feb 24 � The Professor BM Das Memorial Lecture was delivered on February 22 in Utkal University, an e-mail received here stated.

The solemn function was organised by the Department of Anthropology (Centre of Advanced Study), Utkal University and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute, Government of Odisha under the auspices of the Indian National Confederation and Academy of Anthropologists (INCAA).

Professor PK Misra from Mysore University while delivering the lecture, said: �He (Prof Das) was very well informed about the tribal situation in North East India. I pay my humble tribute to him on this occasion. I will discuss tribes and Indian civilisation, which I think is a topic close to his intellectual pursuits and interest and the role of persona in anthropological studies.�

The function was presided over by Prof RK Jain, former president of INCAA. The chairperson of INCAA, Professor AK Danda spoke on Professor BM Das and also about the lecture held every year in different States of India in memory of this renowned anthropologist.
