SUALKUCHI, June 7 � Surya Hazarika, director of the Assamese movie Srimanta Sankardev, the first movie depicting the Vaishnavite saint, was facilitated by the Mahapurushiya Dharmalochani Sabha, Sri Sri Sankardev Mandir, the largest Vaishnavite temple of Mahapurushiya community, recently.
At the beginning of the show of the movie at Srimanta Sankardev Naatghar here, a felicitation programme organised by Mahapurushiya Dharmalochani Sabha, was held and along with Hazarika, Paran Barbaruah, producer, and his wife Ibha Hazarika, Dibakar Gogoi, assistant director (technical) and Sudipta Sankar Hazarika actor (playing the role of Sankardev) were felicitated.
In his address, Surya Hazarika expressed his desire to project Sankardev in the foreign countries and make the people aware of the multidimensional activities of the neo-Vaishnavite leader by showing the movie and sought people�s blessing to translate it into a reality. Giving the details on the movie, Hazarika said it is not possible to cover all the events of the life-span of 120 years in a single movie. Only same limited events, such as the early life of Sankardev, Chihnayatra, travelling in different parts of India and debating with other religious pandits, Brindabani Basra, etc., were depicted in the cinema. Producer Paran Barbaruah while addressing the meeting said a lot of effort has been put into making the movie a success and called upon the people to extend co-operation to the teamworkers of the cinema fulfilling the dream into real.
Dr Mahesh Baishya switching the button of the projector congratulated the director, producers and teamworkers of the movie for joint venture in producing the cinema and called upon the people to appreciate them.
