TEZPUR, Feb 25: The All Rabha Students’ Union (ARSU) has condemned the recent killing of two persons of a family in Chopai-Baligaon areas under Dhekiajuli Police station in Sonitpur district and demanded justice to the victims’ family.

According to information, one Zili Rabha (48) and her 12-year-old girl was killed by a group of miscreants on Saturday. The miscreants forcefully entered the house of Zili Rabha in the absence of his husband Mohan Rabha, who was away from home for official duties, and killed her with sharp weapons.

Later, the miscreants took her daughter away and killed after committing rape. Tension prevailed immediately after the news spread in the areas.

ARSU president Nripen Khanda slammed the police for their alleged failure in apprehending the culprits. “Five days have passed, but the police is yet to nab the guilty,” he said.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the ARSU visited the area to take stock of the situation and demanded a probe in this regard. The delegation also appealed to the people to maintain peace and harmony in the area.

Disappointed with police inaction, a group of people in the locality staged a protest yesterday and demanded justice to the family.
