GUWAHATI, June 1 � Public Works Department Minister Ajanta Neog today informed that the enquiry report of the tragic Charabari road mishap, which claimed 28 lives on Monday night, would arrive within 15 days.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved family members, Neog further informed that she had ordered to convert around 2,000 wooden bridges across the State into concrete ones within a stipulated time.
"Already, about 3,000 wooden had been covered by Mukhya Mantrir Poki Dolong Achoni," the Minister said while talking to media persons on the sidelines of a function organized at the District Library on the occasion of Nagar Palika Diwas.
The Urban Development Minister went on to say that the department has decided to act tough on those indulging in corrupt practices.
She also divulged that the department , this time, has decided to transfer funds to the town committee and municipal bodies via electronic transfer system.
"Moreover, we would also refrain from centralized purchasing and this responsibility would now rest on the town committees and municipal bodies," the Minister pointed out.
She, however, stressed on proper utilization funds by the town committees and municipal bodies.
