Probe ordered into SI recruitment scam

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 30 - The State government has instituted an inquiry into the Assam Police SI (Unarmed Branch) recruitment scam and the investigating agency has been asked to conduct the inquiry without any compromise.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said this while interacting with the media at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra here today.

In sync with the State governments principle of zero tolerance against corruption, Sonowal said that no leniency or compromise would be tolerated in the inquiry process as the investigating agency has succeeded in making headway in the investigation.

He also said that the police would definitely track all the accused allegedly involved in the scam and arrest them. He also reiterated that the State government is making it sure that no meritorious candidate is deprived of justice.

Sonowal said that once the findings of the investigation are out, all aspects of the scam will come to the fore. He also urged upon the journalists and the public to be alert to avert any unscrupulous activity in the system.

He maintained that the inquiry ordered into the scam was not the result of any complaint. Within 15 minutes of the reported leak of question papers, the State government had cancelled the recruitment examination, he said.
